Escaping Escapism: What a Bizarre Rodent Ritual Can Teach Us About Navigating a World We Can't Re...
After a full season of trying to escape more than a dozen evil -isms (fun things like capitalism, industrialism, extremism, and otherism), Rob, Jason, and Asher come to one conclusion: there is no true escape -- at least not for those of us who want to help their communities collapse and re-emerge gracefully. Join the boys as they explore what the cult classic Groundhog Day has to teach us about navigating the endlessly insane world of modernity and reflect on key lessons and actionable steps we can all take to navigate the Great Unraveling of environmental and social systems.

Escaping Otherism: Why Dr. Seuss Could Never Find a Rhyme for Genocide
Переглядів 7114 днів тому
The drive to belong to an in-group and the tendency to observe differences in others are core parts of the human condition. But differentiating can (and often does) turn deadly when it morphs into othering. Jason, Rob, and Asher try not to other one another as they explore the roots and consequences of othering, and the ins and outs of belonging as a key organizing principle of society. Warning...

Переглядів 9421 день тому
The forces of media, technology, and even the wiring of our own brains seem aligned to draw people toward extremism. But never fear: Asher, Jason, and Rob unpack why we're so susceptible to wackadoodle viewpoints and offer ways to tamp down extremist thinking and behavior in ourselves, our communities, and across society. Along the way, they tour the worlds of extreme sports, extreme politics, ...

"we don't want to pic on right wing extremism" but we are going to talk about the dumbest most low hanging fruit kind of right wing extremism there is for the first five minutes of our program. Said the carbon extremists 😂. I love You and am sympathetic to your views on peak oil. But you often fall into the trap of assuming your own opinions are in some way neutral or objektive.

I was surprised to see animal agriculture promoted at the end. The evidence is clear that most people will have to be on a plant based diet, or close to it, once resources are more scarce. We simply don't have the inputs or the land area to be able to sustain much animal ag at all. Land will be especially scarce if we have beef on pasture in such low stocking densities to not require external feed inputs. In most scenarios it's a highly inefficient way of delivering nutrients and calories.

_"Capitalism" "capitalism" "capitalism"_ , that word is now just an invective for you. Anything you don't like is "capitalism", or at least enabled by "capitalism". Problem is, once a word can mean almost anything it means nothing. If any of you own any land, are you going to willingly just surrender the title to ... what exactly? Maybe try being more into the real world. Go change someone's life and report back on how you did it.

I've noticed a lot of Marxist opportunism/eco-Marxism, as industrial civilization rounds it's zenith. As if communists weren't industrial civilizationists, chop down all their trees, or wreck their land bases. It's a nice try and all, but I don't think soy values are going to be particularly adaptive going into the future.

The past Prime Minster of New Zealand, you promote, was a pos globalist who enriched herself, as she pushed the demands of a mega corporation during the covid scam. she used the police to brutalise ordinary citizens that protested her government and their slavish following of corporation 'conflict of interest science'. She thought nothing of the many thousands of 'us' that lost our jobs for not taking an experimental drug still in trial phase. Please go research the quality of people you glibly promote! However your last comment to covid and finding community. Thanks to the above pos, many of us did such and continue those relationships/friendships still. The negative though is our society is now split by deliberately created anger and going forward mis-trust towards to majority of 'sheep' who 'we' know will do exactly the same towards 'us', next time the mega-corporations want the government to sell some product!
